Suncare Research Laboratories provides a unique combination of services to the Sunscreen Community. We are a research-oriented testing laboratory, specializing in the measurement of Sun protection. With a staff of 8, including a Board-Certified Dermatologist Consultant, we occupy 4,000 square foot facilities near the campus of Wake Forest University.
Our clients include major sunscreen manufacturers in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia, as well as numerous start-up biotechnology firms and private entrepreneurs.
Suncare Research Laboratories was founded in 1999 by Joe and Bill Stanfield, and is dedicated to the advancement of sun protection measurement technology and providing superior service to our clients.
Why we lead the field of sunscreen testing
- We actively participate in development of sun protection test protocols used by the industry through international conferences, publications and memberships in organizations such as the ISO Sunscreen Working Group
- We hold memberships in the American Academy of Dermatology, the Photomedicine Society, the American Society for Photobiology, the European Society for photobiology, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the American Chemical Society, and The Society of Clinical Research Associates.
- SRL staff members have participated in more than 40 scientific publications.
- We provide additional measurements such as fluorescence imaging, and photography.
- We have over 20 years of prior experience in sunscreen development and marketing support, and over 60 years of collective experience in sun protection research.
